Jill,

I like this picture very much! Did you say all of your cats have extra digits on on their paws? Is this a common thing? Did you deliberately look for extra toed cats or is it pure coincidence?

Yes, both our kitties have extra toes, but they're not related. Rusty has 6 on each paw, and Polly has 7 or 8 on each, with dewclws on her back feet. Both have front paws with big catcher's mitts on them! Polydactyl cats are often referred to as Hemingway cats, as the writer had quite a few of them in FL. They aren't that common, although both my cats came from the South Wood County Animal Shelter at different times, and I have seen other polydactyl cats there. Seems to be an enclave of them around Wisc. Rapids. I didn't look for the defective feet - they just came attched to personalities I couldn't resist!LOL. But I must admit, I've grown partial to the many toes because it's interesting to see how the cats adapt to having them - balancing and grabbing at things is sometimes more difficult it seems. It's almost like not all the toes work properly. Gee, I bet this is more of a treatis than you expected!LOL!
